We will be taking part in the global movement Stand Up as part of our regular Encounter service this week at Bethany Bible College in Sussex, NB. 6:00pm at the campus chapel.
The WUSC St. Thomas society will be reading the pledge at noon on Friday in James Dunn Cafeteria (near the Tim Hortons).
Through out the day we will be visiting university classrooms, reading the pledge and asking students to join us downtown that evening, as we march with our poster that is signed by all participants who stand against poverty.
Awareness & Action campaign organized by our grade 12 students : while learning through academic games online, at www.freerice.com, students will be donating to the UN World Food Program 20 grains of rice for every correct answer. . Pledge forms listing student names and amounts of rice donated will then be sent to our M.P.
All day Friday, before the start of a class, members of WUSC-UNBSJ will ask their classmates to Stand Up against poverty.
Students will participate in a 1 minute stand to help increase their awareness of global poverty. It is also to help build community spirit amoung the children who come from diverse backgrounds. Afterwards, they will participate in discussions within the classes and Middle school students will begin a writing campaign to newly elected official.
