At our secondary school Loreto Balbriggan, the JPIC commitee organised this event to take a stand against poverty. It took place on Friday the 17th of October and during the morning announcements two members of the JPIC group invited everyone to stand up in their classrooms, making a STAND against poverty.

Turnover of Knowledge Channel (curriculum-based educational television for elementary and high school) facilities in Guimaras Island.
Turnover event of Knowledge Channel (educational television) facilities and Math & Science textbooks for Grades 1-6 with Embrace CSR’s contribution of US$733,000.00 to provide over 200 public elementary schools with Knowledge Channel facilities. The President of Knowledge Channel Foundation, Ms. Rina Lopez Bautista and the Managing Director of PMPMI/Embrace, Mr. Chris Nelson, led the event.
Students at MGS pledge to plant 300 trees to contribute to achieving MDG no 7. The trees will be planted in an old greenfield site that has been redeveloped as school playing fields. Th event is part of an annual Celebration day.
The school’s human rights group organised a whole-school “Stand Up and Take Action” event during their lunch time. 577 pupils attended. They stood up, read the pledge and then said a prayer.
