A discussion/workshop event to consider poverty as a justice issue and the need for structural change in the international communities to address it.
The Year 5 class at St Clare’s Catholic School will be asking the parishioners during the Catholic Mass at St Clare’s Parish Centre, Narellan Vale, NSW, to Stand Up against poverty.
Each service we have a section called ‘Variety Spot’. What is done in this segment changes each week. This week we will run a ‘Stand Up’ segment. We will show a multimedia presentation on poverty and then make the pledge through a prayer.
Student at Lurnea High School aim to stand up against poverty and spread awareness. Lurnea High School will join the global movement of people who refuse to stay seated or silent in the face of poverty and broken promises to end it!
We will be showing a short video and telling our fellow students about the MDGs before the lecture (in LT06 at UWS Campbelltown). We believe that even though we’re a small group, together we can make a difference!

All Saints Senior Students are Standing Up for the Millennium Development Goals, against Poverty Worldwide, and against broken promises by our world leaders to achieve this by 2015. Over 300 young people are choosing to take action to ensure that this cause is focussed upon. In 2008 we are more than half way to 2015- their deadline.
