As part of the service of the St. Peters Cathedral Church in Kumasi a STAND UP event was held to get members of the church to be part of the Millennium Campaign against poverty. Members of the church learn about the MDGs and STAND UP. The priest read the STAND UP pledge afterwards.
YPWC under this project will take advantage of a National Health Fair to engage participants to a national health fair which is being organized in Kumasi in the STAND UP event. Children from the Kumasi Children’s Home will be transported to this venue for a blood screening and there will also be donation of blood to save the blood bank.
During the worship hours of the 17th October 2008, YPWC staffers will engage the Muslims in the STAND UP and SPEAK OUT event. Special prayer will be said by the chief Imam to support the realization of the MDGs by 2015. A musical icon Obour, who is a Peace Campaigner will also preach a Peace message and deliver a speech to the worshippers on how peace can promote the MDGs.

this event is targeting the university community and also the youth to have a different feeling about poverty since i am motivated by the words of Colin Powell the says that “the worst kind of poverty is not economic poverty but poverty of love and sharing” i want every youth especially those getting out of the university to have a different view about what this whole event is about.this will be h
