At our secondary school Loreto Balbriggan, the JPIC commitee organised this event to take a stand against poverty. It took place on Friday the 17th of October and during the morning announcements two members of the JPIC group invited everyone to stand up in their classrooms, making a STAND against poverty.
Students from all years stand up and make a plegde that is heard through the intercom
We will ask all the first years and second years to stand up in school and will also ask anyone interested to sign a petition.
Justice and Peace Group will explain purpose of the stand up to students, read pledge and gather signatures.
Amnesty International Irish Section local groups will be standing up in their communities against poverty and in support of the Millenium Development Goals.
