The National Youth Forum (NYF) was initiated in 2004 by the National Youth Council (NYC) with the aim of addressing the call by PM Lee Hsien Loong to enhance the level of youth civic participation.
The NYF follows from the Remaking Singapore Committee recommendations to provide a formal platform for youth from a variety of backgrounds to study policy formulation and debate national issues.
Friends get togther at Brotzeit to show that they are commited to stand against poverty and collect donations for “Brot fuer die Welt”.
Outside Cathay Cineleisure – across from the *scape Youth Park – DJ Rosalyn Lee — who appears in ONE (SINGAPORE)‘s “Make Time for Them” Stand Up campaign — shared with participants the horrible fact that every three seconds a child dies from extreme poverty. She then led the audience in a moment of silence.
Secondary 2 students from our school were requested to gather at our school’s parade square in the morning of the 17th of october, to create a human formation of the words STAND UP! each Secondary 2 class formed one letter, and the event lasted about one hour. Teachers and student helpers from our school’s United Nations Club helped out in organising the students.
During a Hari Raya house party, we will Stand Up Against Poverty.
Catch your loved ones when they’re already in a group and lead them to Stand Up. That’s what I’ll do tonight – if they won’t come to you (or any other event), go to them!
For those who cannot find anyone else to pledge with them. Some friends and I will Stand Up near Suntec City to make our stand in a more personal group before heading to the Youth Park event. Anyone’s welcome!
