The GCAP “Make Our Money Work For Us Campaign, Nigeria” Secretariat will be mobilizing all states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria to Stand Up & Take Action Against Poverty on the 17th, 18th and 19th of October 2008.
END TO POVERTY AND INEQUALITY!!! Manchester students are gathering to Stand Up, lift their voices together and Take Action against Poverty and to show their support for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a roadmap to halve extreme poverty by 2015. The event will be help at St Peter’s House, Precinct Centre, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9GH from 1.00pm to 03.00pm
The ONE Campaign, an Edinburgh University student society, will be organising musicians and performers in Bristo Square on 17 October at 12pm. We hope to draw in students and passerbys, give them information about Stand Up Take Action and have them pledge their name in the fight against world poverty. All are invited to attend and pledge!
Blood donation, free medical camps, distribute unused book to the poor student, and a dialogue between government and students about pro-poor education system and campaign on combating HIV-AIDS.
ONE (RGS) is bringing Stand Up 2008 to Raffles Girls’ School! In addition to taking the Stand Up Pledge, students and staff of RGS will also come to school on Oct 17th wearing white to show their support. A Coalition of Aid Fair will be held where various MDG-linked charities set up booths to recruit volunteers, spread awareness of their causes and get RGS involved in making a difference!
We are celebrating Vijaya Dashmi festival on 09th October, 2008. On this day, effigy of Ravana is burnt. We are burning the effigy of Ravana to symbolize the eradication of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, corruption, superstitions and female fetus as well as domestic violence.
