The Christian Church, as a religious and social institution in Liberia has overtime evolved as a key pillar of every modern society for its moral fortitude, social services and charity to mankind. The Church in Liberia has been very instrumental in mobilizing people to advocate on issues that affect the larger public. The Church to some extend led the process that through peace to Liberia in many waysthat is by engaging political leaders, war lords, the international community to bring to an end the 14 years civil conflict that almost destroyed the social, political and economic fabric of Liberia. This is why it is more important than ever to engage the Church to Stand Up and Take Action against Poverty and for the MDGs in post conflict Liberia on Sunday October 19, 2008. The event in the Churches will done simultaneously commencing from 9:30 am -2:30 pm. The activities will include the songs the reading of the Stand Up and Take Action Pledge by victim of poverty in these Churches, anti poverty sermons will be preach by the pastors of those Churches.
