The CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT OFFICE OF MSU-IIT (Iligan City, Philippines) in cooperation with the KASAMA (MSU-IIT Student Council) presents this concert for a cause about the current realities of the world, particularly in the Philippines – the issues on poverty, global warming and war. This concert is in commemoration of the Institute’s 40th (Ruby) Charter Anniversary. The MSU-IIT Echoes Band, resident band of MSU-IIT under the supervision of CDO, expresses their strong determination to end some of the most challenging and vexing problems facing the world today through their music and reaching out to the youth to be involve in other worthwhile activities that promote awareness on the issues like extreme poverty, disease and environmental degradation could be overcome with the global awareness. With these issues, one of the most important and significant statement was created, granting hope and a fostering a goal to unite, and consequently solve some of the worlds most pressing and urgent concerns. Inspiring hope that the world, complicated and divided as it is, can come together to take on great challenges to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty, achieve universal primary education, and ensure environmental sustainability. The Echoes Band is calling the youth to STAND UP & SPEAK OUT! Be a part of this humanitarian advocacy and answer the famous Davos Question. "What one thing do you think that countries, companies or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?"

The number provided is a block number since there were more than 150 centres countrywide participating in the event. The event took part in more than 90 primary and secondary schools in Iringa, Dar es Salaam, Moshi and Rufiji - mainly for the stand up moment. Pledges/petitions were read and signed out. The central event was a concert at Mnazi Mmoja, Dar es Salaam that was attended by a representative from a government programme implementing infrastructural and social development projects countrywide. The agreed 'Stand Up' time was officially at 18h00. However, others held their Stand Up moment on 17th October 2007 within the 24 hour deadline for standing up worldwide. To commerate the 17th October there were football matches, peaceful march and open debate in Mbezi, Mbagala and Songea, respectively.

Save the Children UK organized a Stand Up Against Poverty and Illiteracy events in 34 primary schools in different towns in Montenegro, where 26579 children and adults stood up to join the global campaign. Famous persons, such as Montenegrin singer Andrijana Bozovic, were invited to come to schools, support the campaign, read out the Campaign Pledge to children and invite all to stand up, raise their hands and join the global call for action. National and local TV stations and press have reported from the events.
