The GCAP “Make Our Money Work For Us Campaign, Nigeria” Secretariat will be mobilizing all states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria to Stand Up & Take Action Against Poverty on the 17th, 18th and 19th of October 2008.
A street theatre group called Sarwanaam will stage two drama in two main thoruoghfare of the capital city in cooperation with UNDP Nepal on the theme Poverty, Peace and Human Rights.
On Sunday October 19, 2008 from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm, join ONE, Care, and millions of individuals worldwide to Stand Up and Take Action against Poverty and to show your support for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a roadmap to halve extreme poverty by 2015.

Inside the prestigiuous Oranmiyan Hall of Lagos Airport Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Tarshish Communications Ltd will be mobilising about 1000 people to attend the event on 17th of October 2008. Activities include speeches by Dr Joe Odumakin, Barr Bamidele Aturu and Chief Dele Momodu. The Guest of Honour is Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu a member of the House of Representatives.
“Stand up and speak out against poverty” will make visible the causes of global poverty, actions and commitment that are taken or can be taken to alleviate poverty.
The action comes as a follow-up of the pilot event ran in Cluj-Napoca in 2007 by PATRIR and World Vision.
This event will take place at the a University: School of finance and Banking.
The main messages we want to create awareness about are:
• How the poor perceive poverty. • How society perceives poverty. • How we can make a difference to help eradicate poverty. • To motivate and encourage young people to listen, learn and develop action-oriented thinking to help this cause.
