The National Youth Forum (NYF) was initiated in 2004 by the National Youth Council (NYC) with the aim of addressing the call by PM Lee Hsien Loong to enhance the level of youth civic participation.

The NYF follows from the Remaking Singapore Committee recommendations to provide a formal platform for youth from a variety of backgrounds to study policy formulation and debate national issues.

The NYF selects a group of youths, aged 17 to 25, who are passionate about making a difference, to participate in the program. Since its inception in 2004, NYF has engaged youth in issues of national, community and youth interest; provided training and opportunities to exercise leadership; implemented notable projects such as Audible Hearts and Go Global Business Plan Competition.
