We are going to gather infront of the Kelowna Library at around 5 pm where there will be African dancers/drummers, local bands from Kelowna and Vernon playing at around 5:30-6 we will form a human band and we will recite the pledge. The festivities will continue until about 8 o'clock that night. There will be booths of information, fair trade coffee and "Stand Up" merchindise. Don't forget to sign the petition to be counted for the Guiness World Records!!!
The final figure of people Standing Up is a massive total of 43,716,440 participants in at least 6,540 events around the globe spanning 127 countries. They broke the world record - set last year at 23.5 million - for the largest number of people to “Stand Up Against Poverty” in 24 hours.
