The United Nations Day for the Eradication of Poverty coincides with our organization's annual fund raising dinner, at which we will be honouring community leaders who Stand Out for the way they've Stood Up for children and youth. First Call focuses much of our advocacy work on increasing economic equality for children, youth, and families. The evening will feature great food, music, and a silent auction. We will all Stand Up to read the poverty pledge. Tickets are $45, or $15 for youth/unemployed. Contact info@eventability.ca for tickets.
The final figure of people Standing Up is a massive total of 43,716,440 participants in at least 6,540 events around the globe spanning 127 countries. They broke the world record - set last year at 23.5 million - for the largest number of people to “Stand Up Against Poverty” in 24 hours.
